DEC Calls for Public Comments on OPDMD Policy

The Department of Environmental Conservation has drafted a policy for use of Other Power-Drive Mobility Devices (OPDMDs). This draft policy will establish the process for determining where OPDMDs may be used by individuals with mobility disabilities to access outdoor recreational programs on DEC lands. DEC is accepting comments on the draft policy until March 9, 2026.

At this time, we are reviewing the policy and will share our comments with our supporters and DEC as soon as we can. For now, we can say we’re glad the process is moving forward.
